Welcome to the Fire Marshal’s Office – Community Risk Reduction Division
Our mission is to reduce risk, prevent emergencies, and enhance community resilience by working collaboratively with residents, businesses, developers, and event organizers throughout the permitting and development process. Through education, engineering, enforcement, and engagement, we strive to identify hazards early and implement practical solutions that protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure before an incident occurs.
Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is the foundation of modern fire and life safety. While emergency response remains vital, the most effective way to protect our community is by preventing fires and other emergencies from happening in the first place. The Fire Code establishes minimum safety requirements based on nationally recognized best practices to help ensure a reasonable level of protection from fire, explosion, and hazardous conditions in both new and existing buildings, structures, and premises. These requirements not only safeguard occupants and property but also enhance the operational safety of firefighters and emergency responders during emergency operations.
Our office supports a wide range of CRR initiatives including construction plan reviews, fire protection system approvals, operational permits, and special event safety planning. Whether you are applying for a special event permit, requesting approval for a fire alarm or fire sprinkler system, coordinating a fireworks display, or submitting plans for a new construction project, our team is here to partner with you in creating safer environments for our community.
Please review the permit categories listed below to determine the application that best fits your project or activity. Each application includes detailed instructions and submission requirements to assist you through the process. Once completed, all required documentation may be uploaded through our online permit portal for review.
If you have any questions at any stage, our team is ready to support you.
