Voters in the Middleton Rural Fire District and Star Fire Protection District will decide on a temporary two-year levy override in the
May 19, 2026 election.
Each Board of Commissioners authorized the districts to place these measures on the ballot to temporarily collect $2,225,000 for each district for two years, beginning in fiscal year 2027.
Fire Districts in Idaho are limited to raising their budget by 3% per year, 8% per year in times of growth. Our communities have grown and emergency service demands have increased beyond that 8% limit.

The cost to Middleton homeowners is estimated to be $54.73 annually per $100,000 of net taxable assessed value. For a home valued at $550,000 with a Homeowners Exemption of $125,000, the estimated increase would be $19.38 per month.

The cost to Star homeowners is estimated to be $37.69 annually per $100,000 of net taxable assessed value. For a home valued at $550,000 with a Homeowners Exemption of $125,000, the estimated increase would be $13.34 per month.
