FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM PERMITS

PLAN SUBMITTAL GUIDELINES 

1. Completed Application Required:
   All plans must include a completed application. Access the application form and fee available in the download section of this page. 
2. Project Submittal:
   Submit all permits via our online portal.
3. Sprinkler and Alarm System Plans:
   • Plans must be submitted simultaneously to:
     • The State Fire Marshal's Office: This step is essential but does not grant approval to start work.
     • Middleton/Star Fire District: The AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) Fire Code Official must issue a construction permit.
   • Submissions must comply with the International Fire Code (IFC) and other applicable regulations.

Important: Approval from the State Fire Marshal does not authorize work to begin. Only the AHJ Fire Code Official can issue a construction permit, as required under IFC Section 105.

THE COMPLIANCE ENGINE 

The Middleton Rural Fire District and Star Fire Protection District utilize The Compliance Engine to track compliance for fire protection systems.  Vendors are responsible for uploading reports promptly.
